Well, the highlight of my Quilt Market had to be the launch of Stash Books with this fantastic display that featured an amazing birdcage I picked up from Pottery Barn (floor model discount-woot!). It served to both protect the birds and gave us the ability to showcase them at a variety of levels. Our Marketing Department did a great job at displaying the Spring titles and we also included a sneek peek at our Fall 2010 titles on a poster in the back. Our Sales Team says that Stash Books is a wild success, and we are already reprinting a few of our Stash Books titles before most of them hit the shops!
Another highlight was Cherri House’s book signing for which we had a line of people around the booth! Like many, I just did not take enough photographs while I was at Market, and a lot of the ones I did take, I can’t show you because they might be fabulous authors on one of our upcoming lists. Grrr.
Thursday, I attended 15 Schoolhouses and Thursday evening, I attended my very first Sample Spree which was just as hectic as everyone says! In past markets, I kind of kept clear because it is really for the shops, but I just could not resist the urge to shop while I was there so I did pick up a few packs of fabric.
After that, I went to the Fabric 2.0 party where bloggers can get together to meet up and to network. I was so tired by then that I didn’t take one single photograph! Fat Quarter Shop has a great summary of the evening here. Friday was the Moda dinner where I got to sit down and have dinner with upcoming Stash Books author, Camille Roskelly:
Then the real fun (and work) began with back-to-back meetings with potential authors, and a bit of time to wander the floor scouting out new talent, trends and products to add to our Stash Books list. That is the super-secret part. But I can say that I had some promising conversations and I hope you’ll be seeing quite a few of these fabulous designers with a book of their own for Stash Books in the coming seasons.
