Countryside Softies Dragonfly project

Now that we have been parading the characters from Countryside Softies past you for the past couple of months (in this blog post and this blog post), we thought we’d take a break from teasing you. In celebration of National Craft Month, we’ve giving Amy Adams’ Dragonfly project to you, right here, right now!

You are going to have a great time mixing and matching different scraps of fabric and experimenting with hand sewing and machine sewing to come up with your unique little insect. One of the coolest things about the softies in this book is that imperfect stitching actually adds to the personality of your project. I wouldn’t be surprised if you ended up making a whole menagerie of these little guys like Glenna did when we commissioned her to make some models for the VIPs we visit with at Book Expo America in May.

A menagerie of dragonflies and a couple of Collins from Fanciful Felties, who somehow snuck into the photo

Amy Adams‘ Dragonfly project is free for you in celebration of National Craft Month 2011. It’s one of 28 unique fabric softies in her new book Countryside Softies.

Happy crafting!

These are great! Thanks for posting the project. Hmmm… I have some photos of gorgeous dragonflies in my backyard pond — I can print them on fabric and use the fabric for the dragonflies. Or is that too literal? :)

What a delightful dragonfly project. I’ll give it a try.

I hadn’t heard of this book prior to stumbling here. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
