We are so thrilled and excited to be the premier stop on the Stop. Go. Quilt. Sew! road-trip blog tour!
How awesome is this? The FIRST stop on a blog tour is a great honor and we will do our best to start this road trip off in style.
Angela Yosten is the author of Stop. Go. Quilt. Sew!. We love the way she interpreted the many signs seen on a road-trip into quilts, pillows, home decor, shower curtains(!) and more. Her style is truly unique – blending scrappy with applique (“Scrap-Applique”) for visually stunning results with tons of texture. Even her backgrounds are pieced!
When Angela announced the theme for the blog tour: ‘If you were a traffic sign what would it look like?’ – the team at Stash knew right away.
‘Handmade Only Beyond This Point’ is what Stash Books is all about. Handmade.
We see handmade as more than a word that describes something. To us, Handmade is a verb. It’s a call to action. It’s a way of life. It is the Journey, the ‘road-trip’!
This tour is a fabulous handmade road trip departing from California (where we are located) through 9 pit stops and ending at your final destination, Angela’s own blog.
Here is the map, tuck it under your arm and get going!

(heart shaped sign)
LOVE SPOKEN HERE
I giggle about “dip in the road” or just plain “dip”. A scary one is “runaway truck ramp”.
My favorite traffic sign is “one way.”. No idea…it just has always been a fave!
i think in many places throughout each home, building, town, city, state, country —- “Think!”
Great ideas already. To borrow an existing sign, I would choose “Keep Calm and Carry On”. For an original, I’d create a sign that says, “Do What Matters Most”.
With an active 4 year old boy around the house, I feel like I am a big red STOP sign. Maybe in a few years I can back down to CAUTION!
Caution!
I feel like I say stop all day to my 6 and 3 year olds. Only a couple more weeks of being a constant referee, then school starts!
I like Give Way signs, it takes away any ambiguity about what happens at that particular intersection and with the road rules changing a few months back here in NZ that’s a good thing!
I’m with Margaret….
Most certainly a heart shaped sign!
Bright pink heart, bold bright colors for the letters with obvious stitch lines in oranges, aqua, lime, purple, yellow…
LOVE that’s what it’s all about.
I like the 100km road signs that we have on freeways here in Australia – it’s the design of the sign that appeals, not the message of the sign. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of this lovely book.
My road sign would say, Caution: Stray Stitches Ahead.
I would like one that is modelled on the Keep Calm and Carry on signs
Keep Calm
and
Hug Them
For the days when you find your child has done something that wasn’t what you had in mind.
Depending on the day, my sign would be: “Stop, Look & Listen” or “Under Construction”.
Beware! Quilter ahead
Beware! Quilter at work
Favorite road sign is the Canadian “Squeeze Left” sign – we get a good giggle about (aboot?) that one when in Toronto.
What about “Reduce Speed Now”?
“Slow Children at Play”
I actually dressed up as a road sign for Halloween once (using an actual discarded road sign my husband picked up). As an elementary school teacher, this one got some good laughs.
HI! “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!’
THANKS FOR THE HOP!
Share the Road with a Cyclist! Living in a town full of college students we who ride our bikes are often a bit nervous when they come back to town with their zippy cars. Soon though they’ll see the light and by a bike! Thanks for the give a way!!
Mine would just say WHOA! now that would keep people guessing
Mine would be the stop sign
I would say mine is the stop sign. Stop the housework and start the sewing.
“No whining!” would be my sign of choice! I had one hanging in my classroom every year! Thanks for the chance to win what looks like a fabulous book.
Chocolate Zone Ahead.:)
Watch for falling rocks! That one gets me because it is usually where there is a shear wall on one side and no way you could see a rock coming!
Mine would probably be “crafter/quilter parking only”
Thanks for the giveaway!
Quilt Shop Ahead! Thanks for the giveaway.
STOP
We have 3 grandnieces that are learning this word. One is already repeating it to me. Plus, I love the octagon shape. Thanks for the giveaway.
Parking for Quilters Only! Made in the shape of a quilt block. Thanks!
Turn right:) dunno why!
I would love to make a Michigan Left sign! thanks!
I would say Yield —always a good idea to yield to others! However, I love the Quilt Shop Ahead idea!! Thanks for the giveaway!
My sign would be “Quilter’s parking only. All others will be towed”
Looks like a great book. Thanks for the giveaway.
Snip
Stitch
Quilt
Repeat
My sign would be the stop sign! Thanks for giving me the opportunity!
Mine would have to be “Watch for Falling Pins”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stepped on a pin. Ouch!
My sign would say ‘Children at Play’ because that pretty much sums up my life
My favorite road sign has always been “YIELD”. Something about that… makes me smile. Had to be a man who created that one!!
My favorite road sign says Wilmington NC 2554 miles. Its at the start of Interstate 40 in California. I live in Murrieta, CA, and my daughter lives in Clayton, NC.
Mine might be “Caution – woman at work”!!
Mine would be: Relax and Quilt.
At our home, we could use a sign that says, “SLOW– Shelties at play!”
Thanks for the chance to win– looks like a great book— for *girls* too…
Brakes for chocolate!
U-turns (allowed) shuttermom77 at gmail dot com
Definitely “Night Danger” . Seen in my part of Canada, with a graphic of a jumping (we like to think dancing) deer. Around Christmas time, someone always puts red stickers on the deer’s noses.
My favorite road signs are the various animal crossing signs we saw when we visited Australia: kangaroo, crocodile, wombat, etc.
My sign should say…Caution, Cute but Clumsy
I like a lot of the suggestions above. I think a sign wall in the boys room would be a fun idea!
A “one way” sign, because there is only my way–lol…
“I did it MY way” is a sign that tells it all!! Thanks for a chance to win this cute book. I would make so many of these cute projects for my grandsons. tx jenny wren at g mail dot com
My sign would say “Caution: Dust Bunny Crossing”
My sign would be “Cation Children at Play”. Thanks for the chance to win!
Mine would have to be Under Construction…it seems everything in my life is Under Construction!
My sign would be “Quilters Only” in a designated parking spot of Dip Ahead as that is how i feel at times.
Thanks for the giveaway.
My sign would say, “Slow Down Quilter at Play”
My favourite signs have always been those cautioning about animals (deer here in Poland and kangaroos in Australia), so my very own should probably feature a black sewing machine against yellow background
Favorite to me are the signs to watch for critters crossing the road. One of the best spotted showing turtles.
My sign would read – Live for the Day -
I adore the signs that say “deer crossing” or “raccoon crossing”, I could even go with “frog, lizard and turtle crossing”
I love signs… mine would say ‘Rainbows end here’ – I mean surely someone has to claim the treasure!
Beware Fabric Horder!
I like the traffic light sign. It could be used for so many things. Go, Slow Down, STOP.
Quilters Rule!
At the moment my sign would have to be “Construction Ahead. Please expect delays.”. Sigh!
My sign would be “Children at Play.” I work with young children and I’m a mother to a 2 year old boy. Thank you for the chance to win!
Hee, I would have to say the Roundabout sign is my sign
— it is a rare day when my day doesn’t start out with me talking in circles or running around in circles it seems
My sign would say: Noise Welcome-Boys at Play
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win such a great book. My sign would read: “Beware of fabric landslide”
I think my favorite sign is “I only do light house work.” It’s hanging in my dining room. Now for the funniest sign, imagine the sign “one lane road ahead” on a one lane road! We got a kick out of that one!
my favorite is a sign we saw on a random road trip; at the bottom of a dead end road was a one way only sign. Lots of intresting things to see and stumble across. Thank-you for the great book give away chance.Becky
My mom has a sign that I covet that reads “Because Nice Matters.” I want one.
