Yule House Ornament project from Scandinavian Stitches

Yule House Ornament from Scandinavian Stitches

I am absolutely infatuated with Kajsa Wikman’s Yule House Ornament project in Scandinavian Stitches. Not only are they adorable, but everything you need to make them can be found in your stash, and they are perfectly lightweight for those of you who have holiday gifting obligations overseas.

Are you living the handmade lifestyle ?

Danielle's sewing machine

We here at Stash Books make a point of celebrating the handmade lifestyle. After all, the Stash Books tagline is “fabric arts for a handmade lifestyle.” But what exactly is “the handmade lifestyle”? I think we can all agree that one aspect would be the tendency to make or sew items by hand. But it feels like there must be more to it than that. I spent some time pondering this idea and this is what I came up with:

I don’t think “handmade lifestyle” has an official definition, and that is a good thing. I know one thing and it’s that handmade was never meant to be an exclusive club. I think anyone who values handmade or incorporates it into their lives, even if unconsciously, can claim to have a handmade lifestyle to a degree.

Free Owl project from Socks Appeal

Owls_SocksAppeal

These cute and cuddly owls make a great quick-and-easy project just about everyone will cherish. All it takes is a sock, general sewing supplies, and a few odds and ends to make your very own owl. The best part is that no two owls ever come out exactly the same, so you’ll want to make an entire flock of the softies just to see all the different characters you can come up with. This is just one of the projects from new Stash Books release Socks Appeal by Brenna Maloney.
