Quilting and design have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a home that was brimming with quilts and creativity, and my mother will attest to the fact that I was constantly working on all sorts of projects (many of them secret, much to her chagrin), some turning out better than others.
When I began my company, Thimble Blossoms, my main purpose was to have an outlet—a place where I could fulfill my desire to create something original, something that would help inspire others to recognize their creative potential as well.
Since starting my business in the summer of 2007, I have designed more than 40 original quilt patterns. Every time I begin the design process, my desire is always to create something different, something special that will give other quilters—young and old, new and experienced—something to be passionate about.
My mother, Bonnie Olaveson, and I were asked to design fabric for Moda in 2008. We have designed three lines of fabric so far—Cotton Blossoms, Simple Abundance, and Bliss. Working with Moda has been an amazing experience, and we couldn’t be happier about being a part of the Moda family.
I began a design and lifestyle blog in 2007 after writing a family blog for about a year, and I enjoy the creative outlet it provides. I blog about quilting, raising a family, and life in general. I also enjoy learning about photography, and I take any chance I can get to learn more. To even things out, I should probably mention that I am physically incapable of cooking a decent meal. It’s true.
Being a stay-at-home mom while running a business has been quite the adventure so far, and I look forward to the (fingers crossed) many more years ahead.
