Cherri House

Cherri House is a quilt designer and owner of Cherry House Quilts, along with her daughter Lizzy. Cherri was taught to sew at a very young age by her mother, an accomplished seamstress. Her first conscious memory of a quilt was one made by her grandmother. That humble, made-from-scraps patchwork quilt was, in her eight-year-old heart, the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. This first “real” quilt sparked in her a love of quilting that has never been quenched. Nor has her desire to wrap everyone in a quilt, to keep them warm and loved. She definitely believes the world would be a better place if everyone had a quilt.

Geometric and graphic quilts designed as a whole are Cherri’s signature style, which has evolved from her first quilt at age twelve, with her mother. A constant in her quilting adventures is her love of color and fabric—”the more the merrier” is her motto.

Cherri’s first love has always been her family. As a single mother to Luke, Elizabeth, Ashlee, and Melissa, quilting often took a back seat to rearing her family. But it has always been a source of comfort during stressful times. In 2007, within two weeks of her last “little one” leaving home, Cherry House Quilts was born—a long-awaited dream came true!

Cherri lives in Humble, Texas, with her noble pup Mickey, “king of no races,” and her three cats, Pinecone, Stella, and Finn. She is the author of City Quilts and a contributor to We Love Color.
