We are two weeks in to National Sewing Month and the chosen technique of the week is… piping! We are celebrating piping with an excerpt from Kate Haxell’s Me and My Sewing Machine that covers the topic. Secondly, I have linked to 20 tutorials using piping. Try some fun piping tutorials to practice your technique!

As September begins, so begins National Sewing Month. I’m never sure who it is that decides about these events but when it comes to sewing, I’m in.
With the Modern Quilt Guild announcing their Project Modern this month, that seems more than enough of a reason to celebrate, but if you are looking for some additional inspiration, check out our blog each week for a new featured sewing technique.

All four Stash Books titles being released this spring have arrived in our warehouse, and we are celebrating by doing a Stash Books giveaway! One lucky blog reader is going to win a sweet prize pack that includes:
* Socks Appeal by Brenna Maloney
* City Quilts by Cherri House
* Little Birds by Design Collective
* Me and My Sewing Machine by Kate Haxell

In her Introduction, Kate Haxell states that as a beginning sewer she “learned piecemeal from better sewers, from magazines, from getting it wrong the first time, and from books.” To everyone like me, i.e. you who are prone to taking the “learning from getting it wrong the first time” route, I have three words: Get this book!
