When I first came to work at C&T Publishing last year, I saw quilts and bits of quilts everywhere in the office. The “bits” were all part of C&T staffers’ own modern quilting bee, The Buzz, that I just had to join!

I am November’s Queen Bee—the thought of this has been weighing heavily on my mind ever since I decided to join this “Buzz” craze in the office.

October was my month to decide on the block design for our in-house sewing bee, The Buzz. I was inspired by a quilt in the upcoming book, “Sunday Morning Quilts.”

Yay! It’s my turn to be queen bee! The Buzz is the first block party for many of us here at C&T, and I personally find it a whole lot of fun. I look forward to seeing what each bee will choose for a pattern, their fabric choices, and the final results.

I was driving home from work on a gorgeous summer evening, thinking about what to do for my Buzz block, when a swarm of bees came flying into my car. I am Queen Bee for the April edition of The Buzz… Read more.! In case you haven’t been paying attention, The Buzz is a quilting bee made up of C&T staffers who are quilting newbies and think it’s finally time to get some skills and experience. The Buzz also includes several of C&T’s resident Quilting Goddesses, who act as advisors to us

Our second Buzz block started in early March, which for us was full of rainy days sprinkled with a few blinks of Spring sunshine. To celebrate the peekaboo weather and my love of changing seasons, I decided to alter one of my favorite quilts in City Quilts by Cherri House. The clean graphic pattern and inventive color play in City Tracks seemed perfect: easy enough to construct, but full of opportunities! Inspired by the wet weather and early Spring flowers, I played with greys and yellows until I came up with just the sort of dappled look I was going for.
